Summer CleanTox Tips- #4 - Asparagus
Tis the season... Asparagus season that is! This is one food that you should put on your menu each week. There are tons of benefits and I will just start by saying asparagus can help with depression. That's right no pill, no doctors just straight SuperFood!!!
With high levels of folate and tryptophan this vegetable produces serotonin in the brain that aids in stabilizing your mood. So big words made small, this food will improve your mood!
High in fiber, asparagus helps the digestive tract stay healthy!
Bloated? Have some asparagus. This SuperFood is a diuretic and works as an anti-inflammatory and helps relieve pain caused by arthritis and helps with water retention often associated with PMS.
Vitamin K, folate and antioxidants all mean a healthy heart for Y-O-U!
Hangover Helper, high in folate, vitamin B12, and potassium, minerals and amino acids speed up the breaking down of alcohol.
So what have we learned? Asparagus is the thing to eat whether it be in a salad for lunch, as a side dish for dinner or in your omelet on a hungover weekend morning. No matter how you enjoy this vegetable you are bound to have immense benefits.
Try out my recipe for an Asparagus, Tomato and Hearts of Palm Salad. Or just enjoy them as a side to any dinner. Just spray with a little olive oil, sprinkle with a little salt and pepper bake at 375 for 8 minutes and then squeeze some lemon on top and serve.
